The fact that almost any behavior outside normal (whatever that is) can be given a diagnosis is either appalling or ridiculous. So many having a diagnosis would not be as alarming except a plethora of people are being medicated, children included, in numbers that defy good sense.
Or, is all this mental health labeling serving a purpose? As a wake-up call it is aces. When diagnosing and medicating becomes common, it makes good sense to take an honest look at the way we live.
This is a stressful world for living things. It always has been. Neanderthals and hominids had their problems, but they were local, whereas ours are global. If you take a moment to list some of the things we have to tolerate, adjust to, or attempt to change, you do not have to wonder why people are seriously stressed.
